Four years ago when I first ran for City Council it was out of the desire to change the status quo and to build a more responsive and accountable City government. During my first term we made a great deal of progress as Palm Springs continues to grow into a year-round city with year-round needs.

There is still so much more work to do if Palm Springs is to realize its full potential and promise. That is why I am running for Mayor. I have the energy and experience to lead our City through this critical period.

Continued Revitalization of the Downtown Corridor

Revitalizing downtown is the key to making Palm Springs a better place to live, work, visit and raise a family. As Mayor, I will continue to do everything in my power to create a vibrant and thriving city center at the Fashion Plaza. We will create the Palm Springs East-West Corridor running from the Palm Springs Art Museum to the renovated and enlarged Convention Center.

Crime & Safety

Part of the growing pains for any city is grappling with the problem of crime in our neighborhoods. As Mayor my public safety plan will include hiring more police officers to meet the needs of the growing number of residents and visitors. My plan will also include supporting and funding effective prevention programs. Through our neighborhood organizations I will encourage and support Neighborhood Watch programs and other activities that promote neighbors helping neighbors.

Energy Conservation

As one of the founders of the Palm Springs Energy Conservation Commission I know that we can make this City the energy conservation capital of the country. As Mayor I will lead the efforts to improve our own municipal and community energy efficiency, encourage “green building” and put policies in place that effect the conservation of our natural resources.

Community Involvement

As Mayor, I will encourage citizens to become involved in local non-profit and community organizations. I will continue in my work as President of the Mizell Senior Center and advisory board member of the Palm Springs Unified School District.

It has been my honor to serve you as a member of the City Council. By listening to you, and learning from you, I have worked hard to move our City forward. I respectfully ask for your vote on November 6th for Mayor of Palm Springs. Together we will boldly lead Palm Springs into a new era of hope, opportunity and promise.
