Bono Mack Turns Back on Struggling Families, Small Businesses

March 4, 2010
Palm Springs, Calif. – Mayor Steve Pougnet today criticized Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack’s vote against a bipartisan jobs bill, calling her out of touch with the needs of struggling families in Riverside County.

“Everywhere I go throughout our region, I hear from families and small business owners that are struggling to get back on their feet. By opposing this jobs bill, Congresswoman Bono Mack turned her back on them,” Steve Pougnet said.

“Instead of acting to create good paying jobs and get our economy back on track, Congresswoman Bono Mack chose to play partisan politics. That’s just wrong and it shows how out of touch Bono Mack is with the needs of people in Riverside County,” Pougnet said. “We need a member of Congress who will do everything possible to put people back to work and get our economy moving again – not engage in petty partisanship.”

The bill that passed today included small business tax cuts to help spur new investment and a payroll tax holiday for businesses that hire unemployed workers as well as an income tax credit for businesses that retain these employees.
