SIGN THE PETITION! Tell Congress to Repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell

Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, which prevents openly gay troops from serving in the United States Military, is discriminatory, wastes resources and has led to the dismissal of thousands of qualified, loyal service members. Respected military leaders like General Colin Powell, former Secretary of Defense William Cohen and former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff John Shalikashvili have called for an end to the policy.

Steve Pougnet supports the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell and as a member of Congress will work to end the policy.

On the other hand, Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack recently voted against a bill that would repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell – and even once said that she doesn’t believe the “military is a place for social experimentation.”

This is an issue of basic fairness. It is simply not fair to ask courageous LGBT troops to risk their lives defending our ideals of justice and equality for all, while holding them to different standards than other soldiers.

And it’s also an issue of military readiness. Since 1994, over 13,500 service members have been fired as a result of the law. And in just the last five years, 68 service members with critical and rare Arabic and Farsi language skills have been discharged.

Please sign our petition calling on Congress to repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell now! Complete the fields below to sign the petition and receive updates.

We the undersigned call upon Congress to repeal the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy that prevents LGBT Americans from serving openly in the United States Military.
